Today we use our cell phones to call, send messages, video conference and so much more. We can offer you a phone that has the comforts of a home phone yet is cheaper than most cell phones.
As the name suggests, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) delivers voice communication and multimedia sessions (like video conferencing) over IP networks. This means you can use the internet as the transmission medium for making phone calls.
VoIP allows you to make calls using your internet connection.
Examples of this include Zoom, Skype and WhatsApp calling.

What is VoIP?
VoIP is an alternative telephone service that works off your Internet connection. It cuts out unnecessary landline costs and you are only charged for the time you spend on the call. It is a great solution for anyone with fixed or mobile Internet looking for a home or business telephone number that is flexible, affordable and easy-to-use.
What are the benefits of a VoIP system?
- Low cost: All calls take place over the internet therefore you are charged for internet access rather than for call minutes. VoIP offers a cost-effective solution for long-distance and local calling.
- Connect anywhere: VoIP enables the automatic routing of phone calls to your VoIP-enabled phone therefore, wherever you are able to connect to the internet, you can make and receive phone calls.
- Sound quality: A strong internet connection generally results in a clearer and more consistent sound quality than an analogue phone.
- Better functionality: VoIP allows users to host video calls and transmit multimedia messages. Functionality includes voicemail, call analytics and do not disturb.
- Technology: VoIP digitises voice communications making it compatible with the latest technologies. It can work through the newest headsets, smartphones and computer accessories. Any new technology that uses voice is going to work better with a VoIP system than a landline.
- Speed of Deployment: with installation time.
How does it work?
When you sign up for a VoIP service, we’ll give you your own unique VoIP number. It works like a phone number and you’ll use it whenever you need to make and receive calls over the Internet.
Can I keep my current number?
Yes, customers wanting to keep their current numbers can port them to WizeFly for a once-off fee of R89.
If I keep my Telkom number, who do I deal with?
Should you choose not to transfer your current number, you will still deal with WizeFly.
What do I need to do to transfer my Telkom voice landline to WizeFly?
You will need to supply us with a copy of your Telkom telephone bill (please note that your account needs to be settled in full or Telkom will not release your number) and an authorisation letter (which we will supply to you) allowing us to transfer the line.
How long does the Telkom line transfer take?
It can take up to 14 working days (once your account is settled).
Are the packages Month to Month?
Yes, our packages are all month-to-month services.
Is this only for Fibre?
No, the VoIP services are available for use on both a Fibre, Wireless and Fixed LTE set-up.
What VoIP software do we use?
WizeFly uses BroadSoft VoIP software solutions. BroadSoft is likely the largest VoIP application provider in the world.
How stable is VoIP?
Due to the fact that VoIP is fully dependent on the internet, you must have a strong and reliable internet connection to ensure decent sound quality and continual connectivity. In this time of load shedding, a UPS can be used to secure your internet access during power cuts.
Do I need a specific line speed?
We do not limit the speed however; we do recommend that your line speed is stable and more than 4 Mbps to get the most from the service.
Is the handset included?
No, the handsets offered are an optional extra. Our customers also have the option of providing their own VoIP handset providing it is from the approved list. Please contact us for further information if required.
Is RICA documentation required?
Yes. You need to produce your ID and proof of address (less than three months old). We will inform you as soon as your RICA application is approved.
Do I have voicemail?
Yes, including call waiting and do not disturb. Please contact us for a full feature set.
Is there a call history to look up?
Unlike existing landlines, you can now access up-to-date call history logs for both incoming and outgoing calls.
Is the billing per second?
Yes
What happens if I move?
This is a VoIP line, so if you move offices or homes, you simply connect the phone to your new internet line and everything will work.
